WHO ARE WE?

Ordinary People Who Care, was founded in 1984, by Sue Wiblin and Julian Beeby. It was these two people’s desire to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. For a number of years, Sue and Julian managed to support a number of charities through Ordinary People Who Care. They involved many people who shared their passion of caring about the less fortunate.

Ordinary People Who Care were fortunate enough to receive an abundance of donations and gifts and were sponsored by a number of affluent people. With all of this help, Ordinary People Who Care were able to provide numerous hospitals with hampers and gifts for their less fortunate patients.

To name a few, organisations that benefitted from our donations, were Abraham Kriel Children’s Home, Kotlands in JHB South, Volkshulp in Pretoria and Ndeni Children’s Home.

Wish lists were provided to us, by the children in these homes, and in order to fulfil each child’s wish, we instilled the help of our sponsor’s. Family members were also encouraged to come and assist with sewing, making up parcels and delivering these to the various charities.

Ordinary People Who Care made an enormous difference by touching the hearts of so many children who were less fortunate than others, by simply showing love and support.

Unfortunately, the charity was put on hold, as a result of unforeseen family illness.

Realising that the number of people in need and struggling to make ends meet, is growing by the day in our country, we are very pleased to share that we have decided to proceed with Ordinary People Who Care and have registered our non-profit organisation fighting poverty and paying it forward.

Monica Smith

Director

I am a paralegal of profession, mother and grandmother, sister and friend who love to give to others and see them happy.   I enjoy assisting where I can ease others suffering.  I was blessed so many times and am grateful for what I have however with my kids out of the house I feel I have not yet fulfilled my duties on earth yet.  I feel I have a bigger calling and know by helping others I can and will make a difference. Living through giving.

Wimpie Botha

Director

I am a father who would like to leave a legacy for my children. It gives me great pleasure in helping others. If I can make any difference in other people’s suffering it will make me happy. I was taught that it is not what you leave behind but the legacy. Helping others as I have been helped before will give me satisfaction.  “No one has ever become poor by giving”.

OUR GOAL

This organization means the world to a few very special people that have attempted in their own little way to make a difference in just one person’s life, be it an adult or a child.  Initially, the plan was to take children out of childcare services or an orphanage for a holiday, but at the end, the question remained about how you not break another’s heart and show preference to one individual.

A decision was then made to attempt to reach out to private companies and individuals, to assist in bringing at least one day of some Joy to people/children.

The most memorable event for us was on 02 December 2013 at South Hills Recreation center, where we had a combined Christmas party for the children (About 120) as well as the Golden Oldies Club. It was a gathering of young and old sharing a laugh, a show, good food and it remains a day of Joy to so many people.

Love & Light

As people, we need to realize that people perspective is their reality, and if we as Ordinary People can show empathy, give a smile or a hug, a teddy or just listen…you could save a life, give someone hope or make a final struggle seem more bearable.

Our Aim is to shine a light and create memories and to plant a seed of giving and forgiveness.

Ordinary People who care CAN AND WIL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

If one person can SMILE for a while due to a goodwill gesture, then we have succeeded. YOU TO CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Join us and together we can achieve the impossible.

tHANK YOU!!
